Activities

Students enrolled in the BPS Virtual Academy in grades K–8 are eligible to participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities offered by Bismarck Public Schools. Students will be assigned to participate at the school determined by their physical home address for all activity placement and participation purposes.  Click here to search to find your home school based on your physical address.

Grades K-5:

Elementary students may engage in sports programs through the Bismarck Park District, which emphasize fundamentals, teamwork, and good sportsmanship in a non-competitive environment.  Visit the Bismarck Parks and Recreation Website for more information.

Grades 6-8:

All eligibility requirements set by BPS and the North Dakota High School Activities Association (NDHSAA) apply. Students in grades 6–8 must maintain no more than one failing grade to remain eligible. Eligibility checks occur every two weeks. If a student is found ineligible, they will remain ineligible for the full two weeks, even if they meet academic standards during that time. Once academic standards are met, the student will regain eligibility at the next two-week check. Additional periods of ineligibility may be imposed due to attendance issues, unexcused absences, or behavior infractions. Students may not participate on non-school teams during the season of a school sport, per NDHSAA rules. Participation is also contingent on completion of the BPS Code of Conduct and associated trainings by both the student and their guardian.
