About 9-12 Programming

Purpose

The Virtual Academy is a remote, flexible, and high-quality learning option for learners in grades 9–12, blending innovation, personalized instruction, and academic excellence.

Mission and Vision

At Bismarck Virtual Academy, we are proud to be part of Bismarck Public Schools and share the mission of helping every learner thrive through excellence, inclusion, innovation, and leadership. As a virtual learning community, we partner with families to create flexible, supportive, and engaging online learning environments where learners can grow at their own pace and in their own space. Strong relationships and personalized support help our learners build confidence, discover their passions, and stay connected—no matter where they learn.

Programming

The Virtual Academy for grades 9–12 provides a flexible learning environment where students complete most of their coursework online at a pace that supports their individual learning needs. Students work through lessons, assignments, and activities using approved online learning programs.

Each student meets weekly with the Virtual Academy facilitator to review progress, set goals, and receive support. In addition, students have access to content-area teachers for tutoring and academic assistance when needed.

To ensure students are meeting course expectations and demonstrating their learning, in-person proctored assessments are required at the end of each unit.

Students may continue participating in select courses and activities at their home school, such as music, Career and Technical Education (CTE), and other elective opportunities. However, the majority of their academic coursework is completed through the Virtual Academy's online learning programs.
